EMERGENCY EXITS FOR CHILDREN WITH PARENTS SUFFERING FROM ADDICTION.

Approximately 2.5 million children don’t grow up like you or me. They can’t play light-heartedly and develop like the rest of us, they just have to take care of themselves way too early. They are confronted with this difficult situation because one or both parents suffer from addiction: to alcohol, prescription drugs or illegal substances. This considerably affects the children’s development: They are deeply alienated and hopelessly overburdened. In effect, this enormously increases their own addiction-risk.

Aiming to stick up for these kids, the non-profit „Cornelius Stiftung der CORPUS SIREO für Kinder suchtkranker Eltern“ was founded in 2001. By working with pregnant women and young mothers, the youngsters already are supported and their chances for development thus significantly enhanced.
